ABOUT ME

Welcome! I am glad you are visiting my site. My name is Lisa Reid. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, and I offer online psychotherapy services to highly sensitive adults. You may refer to me as a therapist, psychotherapist, counselor or social worker. My clinical approach integrates the traditional therapeutic relationship with cutting-edge experiential mind-body-spirit based techniques. Through the use of gentle facilitation and support, you are invited to be curious of your present experience and notice whatever thoughts, beliefs, sensations and behavioral patterns that get in the way of living the life you want. You will be given opportunities to harness your strengths and cultivate your gifts, as well as gain valuable skills to support you in achieving your therapy goals. Through the therapeutic relationship which is at the heart of the clinical process, deep lasting emotional, physiological, neurological and energetic shifts are possible.

Choosing to Live Your Best Life

To maintain balance in my own life outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my husband, our two grown children and two dogs, as well as making time to connect with extended family and friends. For my own self-care, I value the importance of nourishing myself physically, mentally and spiritually by: exercising, yoga practice, and dancing; being creative with art and cooking; learning and empathizing with characters through reading and movies; gaining cultural awareness, humility and lessons in history through traveling; grounding and delighting in nature through gardening, walking, and birdwatching; and practicing gratitude through meditation, stillness, and prayer.

My Approach

Through the use of genuine compassion, acceptance, curiosity, patience and a touch of humor, it is my intention to create a judgement free, comfortable therapeutic atmosphere for clients to feel at ease to do the work that brought them to therapy. The therapeutic relationship, our connection based on a sense of safety, is the foundation of the therapeutic process; the therapeutic process is the work we do in therapy, which can be both rewarding and challenging.

Working with people who are highly sensitive, neurodivergent and often deeply empathetic and/or intuitive are my specialty. I also work with partners or parents of my specialization. Many of my clients struggle with focus, attention, avoidance, rejection sensitivity, anxiety and are often wired differently than others. Clients who seek my services may also struggle with relationships, social anxiety, and attachment and trauma issues. My clients typically have many unique gifts that they may wonder about but may not yet fully understand or appreciate; they are often highly intelligent and know many things but struggle doing what they know is possible.

As a self-proclaimed “neuroscience enthusiast,” I am fascinated by the clinical advances in understanding how we learn, what impacts our thoughts/behaviors and the complex connections between our mind, body and spirit. With over 25 years of clinical experience, I consider myself a seasoned therapist having served countless children, adolescents, adults, couples and families. I have a long work experience in supporting biological, foster and adoptive children, adults and their families. I have witnessed and supported innumerable ‘aha’ moments of clients rediscovering and reconnecting to parts of themselves that were once lost, forgotten or hidden as means of coping with difficult and/or traumatic situations.

With my thirst for learning and natural curiosity, along with my own inner work, I have come to respect the innate wisdom of the mind, body and spirit. I am grateful and humbled by the kindness and generosity my clients offer me for also being human, for how bravely they show up to reveal their vulnerabilities and how much they teach me everyday. I love being a therapist and treasure having the opportunity to assist people on their path to experiencing lasting emotional, physiological and spiritual well-being.
